In my quest to get away from my materialistic instincts (and let's face it, the American way), I have to say, my internal struggle intensifies. I'm talking about wedding presents. To be honest, it is a very nice perk to finally getting married; don't let anyone tell you differently. I try to remember that the beautiful part is that someone took the time to select and send a gift that they truly think you would appreciate. In the end, you get some pretty cool stuff and some amazing gestures of love and kindness.
One of the wonderful gifts we received came yesterday in the mail from a friend who I have not seen in too many years to count (Or that I'm willing to admit). We've kept up through correspondence though and I have to say, her card was the coup de grace. The gift was a rather large set of spices in a tin box with other useful kitchen implements from Dean and Deluca... it read:
