A Day at the Races

Sorry for not posting in so long--out enjoying life, entertaining out of town guests et al. Hope this finds you all well & think I will feel like writing again soon. In the meantime, here are a few photos for your enjoyment!

xo, Leigh

Attended Keeneland with some friends last Saturday to watch the horse races and enjoy the beautiful weather. It was the first nice day in ages and I guess everyone had the same idea--a one day attendance record was set with almost 34,000 people!

Overheard at Work

A fellow state employee talking about her redneck friend who keeps making bad choices and dating inappropriate men:

"She needs a little bleach in the gene pool, if you know what I mean..."

Explain this to me...

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. I just don't understand. Can you explain this outfit to me? Dressed in the dark? Sugar high made her put on this get-up? Help me understand...

Worst part is, this is the best she's looked in a while.
Someone needs to call a stylist. STAT.

Separated at Birth?

Hmmm...although I can't stand cats (and am unbelievably allergic), I have fallen in love with Zelda, my farm cat convert. There must be some strange genetic link to foolish adoration of white cats with mood swings...

Back from the Abyss...

"Auntie Leigh...where the heck have you been?!?!?"
-
Hi All! I'm back! Kind of...
-
Sorry for the long absence y'all. I started a new job two weeks ago and have been plunging headfirst into my work. Much to my chagrin, I start at 8 am (much earlier than my old job) and being late is not an option, so I'm attempting to become a morning person. It's sooo not working, but I'm trying. That's what counts, right? On the plus side, no more late nights at the firm (with no overtime! the horror!) and a totally different area of law to practice. I'm actually really excited about going to work, which hasn't happened for a long time. The pay isn't much better than the measley associate's pay I got at the firm, but the lower stress level has obviously made all the difference in the world.
I'm a happy person. Who knew?

I had a wonderful visit with my grandmother in Texas between jobs and as the weather has warmed up dramatically, house renovations have once again begun. The kitchen redo is up next and although it will be an absolute nightmare for a few months, it has to be done. (You try cooking in a kitchen that hasn't been updated since the 1930s. Not fun.) I'm getting back into my art and have a few calligraphy jobs lined up--gawd bless wedding season!
-
As the glorious sun is still shining outside, I'm off to walk Bella and possibly go shopping with the lovely Lilly Pulitzer gift certificate T. gave me for Valentine's Day. Ah, the days of bright sundresses, cute new sandles, horse races at Keeneland and trips to the beach. Winter is finally over here and I couldn't be happier.
(Seasonal disorder anyone?)
-
So basically, I hope to post more often, but if I'm out enjoying life again, I won't allow myself to feel guilty if I haven't written. I hope you are all out enjoying Spring and finding happiness like I am!
-
If you stop by, please say "hello" and take care!
