Britney will wait...

Okay, I know the world stopped when Brit-Brit filed for divorce from Feder-loser last week, but I have actually had a life lately, so my sarcastic and witty comments on that doomed-from-birth union will have to wait until the next post (sorry Lisa! ;o) but promise to do my bitchy best ASAP!

Last week was a crazy work week (making up for the week I was out of the office), plus, as I said, I've actually gotten a life after a long drought. After getting over the bulk of my asthmatic bronchitis/sinus infection/viral throat infection/cold/curse from God, things picked up quickly...

Friday I had a DAR luncheon (am a prospective member through the urging of T's family...) in honor of our veterans. It was actually quite neat--I got to bring my father-in-law, a Vietnam veteran, to be honored (photo of me with the FIL & T's Step-mom above) and the guest speaker was Jim Brown. Brown is a WWII vet who flew with the "409th Burma Bridge Bombers." Steven Spielberg's father, Arnold Spielberg was in the same brigade and Steven produced a documentary on the heroic bombardiers (You can catch it on the History Channel). He gave a very moving and inspiring speech. I may not like our current war, but one has to be awed by the sacrifices our great men and women of the military make every day to preserve our freedoms.

After the luncheon, back to the office for a few hours before heading to see "Hairspray" at the Lexington Opera House. It was a non-stop singing and dancing extravaganza. T, who has come down with my cold, went basically to humor me, but we both ended up really enjoying it. If you've never seen the movie by John Waters, on which the musical is based, check it out. Highly amusing.

It didn't hurt that the cast was amazing and the actor who played "Link," the lead love interest, was beautiful. However, I was deeply saddened to learn he is, in actuality, all of 18 years old...I guess you have to be young to keep up that pace, but I still felt like Mrs. Robinson for even thinking about it.

Saturday, T & I headed to the Kentucky v. Vandy football game. The weather was cold, drizzly and basically all-around miserable, but it was a good game. Andre Woodson threw for 450 yards and four touchdowns, including two to Keenan Burton, defeating Vanderbilt 38-26 to become eligible for its first bowl game since 1999. I'm not sure which bowl we're eligible for, but someone mentioned the Outback bowl... (don't you love how commercialized all this has become? Crazy advertising dollars spent on college ball...okay, sorry--I digress. That's an entirely new post...)

Sunday, attempted to rest and recover. It was so nice to be busy and get out, especially after being trapped in the house for so long due to illness. Even with 500 cable channels, one starts to lose perspective after a week on the couch! Hope everyone had as great a weekend as I did...promise to write more later.

Things are turning around and looking up...or at least my attitude is...
