A Day at the Races

Sorry for not posting in so long--out enjoying life, entertaining out of town guests et al. Hope this finds you all well & think I will feel like writing again soon. In the meantime, here are a few photos for your enjoyment!

xo, Leigh

Attended Keeneland with some friends last Saturday to watch the horse races and enjoy the beautiful weather. It was the first nice day in ages and I guess everyone had the same idea--a one day attendance record was set with almost 34,000 people!

May he rest in peace.

Sadness: After eight months of pain and surgeries,
Barbaro finally had to be put down.
I hope he is somewhere peaceful--happy and running
as fast as he can through tall grass...

Barbaro's battle for survival,
which captivated the nation,
came to an end Monday as the
Kentucky Derby winner was euthanized.

The Breeders Cup

T is at the Breeders Cup in Louisville today.
I, however, am still home, ill and icky, on our couch.
Where is the justice I ask?

All I know, is he better cash in some big tickets and take me to dinner when he gets back!

Hope this finds you all well!

xoxo, L

I love Carson

I love this guy. I know he doesn't play for my team, but he's just a darling. It's always refreshing when a celebrity is genuinely nice and not walking around with attitude to spare.

Carson Kressley, of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" fame, attended the JL Saddlebred Horse Show all week here in KY. He was polite to everyone, signed every autograph, and appeared to enjoy himself without going insane and pulling a star trip. I ran into him several times during the course of the week. The only time he didn't acknowledge me was when he was behind me in line for the ATM...I swear I wasn't lingering for your pin number! I was just admiring your adorable pink pants!

Anyway, not only is he an author (his new children's book is to the left), he used to work for Ralph Lauren and is an accomplished equestrian! I had no idea and honestly hadn't watched Queer Eye in ages, but I was still very happy to see he was kind to everyone he encountered (unlike this arse who also frequents riding events).

Anyway, Carson is definitely different, and that's SUPER!

Derby Delights

On the running of the 132nd Kentucky Derby,
my mother-dear's friends threw T & me a lovely
Derby couples shower back home in Louisiana.

Mint juleps, bourbon balls and homemade southern delicacies.
What could be better? I don't dare ask. Just pass another mint julep
and some more crawfish Monica...
