The Vineyard

To get our minds off our current woes, some dear friends invited us along to a Saturday concert at a vineyard outside of the city. What used to be a farm has turned into a rather profitable little local vineyard, that entices the locals every other weekend or so during the summer with a concert, wine tastings, and dinner.

It was simply lovely. We arrived around five, set up a "portable gazebo," a table and a few chairs & sat to relax for the first time in months. We chatted and had provolone and prosciutto, enjoying a light breeze that broke the throbbing heat we've been suffering with of late.
-
Dinner, a little Scrabble, a pause to watch the luminous pink-tinged sunset, and then the rhythm and blues music. As T. couldn't really dance (he's still in pain) my friend Amy's grandpa stepped up and made my night. He is quite the Astaire and made me feel graceful, regardless of my two left feet (or my severe lack of dancing practice, or both).

Two of four surgeries in the family are done and with great success. Tear in heart repared. Cancer didn't spread. Only two more to go and then maybe, just maybe, I can stop looking over my shoulder for the next ball to drop.

We need more of these peaceful evenings. Life is short. Enjoy yours lovelies.
